Relief printing workshop using Tetra Pak
16 August @ 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm
A great introduction to the art of relief printing by reuse & recycling. This workshop shows you how to turn your empty tetra pak juice and milk cartons into a bespoke printing medium that can be used to create your own prints, cards, fabrics and much more.

This experimental, tactile printing method uses shapes and patterns to create a surface design on the carton that is then inked & transferred onto another surface. This results in expressive, textural illustrations that can be repeated over and over.
In this 2.5 hour workshop Milly will talk you through the tips and techniques to:
- Design your illustrations
- Create your printing plate
- Prepare the ink
- Apply to the print
We will be working with an example illustration – to get you started and to use on the day – so no upfront creativity required! You will also be given other sample illustrations to take away, plus a set of step-by-step instructions for future use. You don’t need to have print experience or be a creative – this is aimed at all levels.

All materials will be supplied for this session to enable you to leave with at least one finished print, but this workshop has been created with home printing in mind. It has been designed to help you continue exploring this technique further, with only minimal outlay on a couple of bought tools, the rest using things you will likely have already – including those used tetra pak cartons!
This is a fun, hands-on workshop – working with water-based ink – so please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or bring an apron.
These workshops are aimed at adults, but suitable for 12+ if accompanied by an adult.
Light refreshments will be provided.
This workshop will be repeated in the morning 10.00am -12.30am – booking for the morning session can be found here.
All proceeds from this workshop go to support the work of the Friends of Horsenden charity.
