Basket making workshop

Frame basket making workshop with Ellie. Once you’ve learned the principles of this basket, you can crack on with making your own versions! This type of basket needs only a simple set up with few tools, and can be worked on the laps. It’s traditionally made with foraged materials – eg brambles, willow.

This is open to all levels including complete beginners.
(basket making workshops may not be suitable for people without full strength/mobility in their hands)

About Ellie the instructor:

“I studied fine art many years ago, but have always used textiles and natural materials to make functional objects. I am now a full-time spoon carver and basket maker since a change of career.

If it’s not made, it’ll be grown on my allotment in South West London – this includes some of the willow and wood I use in my products. 

I love sharing my skills and meeting people at markets and fairs.

I run workshops in spoon carving and basketry.
