SUMMARY:Mindfulness Through Art
DESCRIPTION:Using painting as a pathway to mindfulness\, these monthly art workshops explore different themes and techniques to inspire creativity and presence. \n\n\n\nCreating art offers a pathway to a meditative state\, allowing us to experience the profound healing and restorative benefits it provides. Whether you’re an experienced artist or haven’t picked up a paintbrush in years\, everyone is welcome to join this calming and relaxing watercolour art workshop. Here\, the focus is on using art as a tool for self-connection\, embracing the flow of creativity\, and cultivating awareness in the present moment. \n\n\n\nThese workshops invite participants to pause\, observe\, and draw creative inspiration from the world around them—whether through the study of nature\, flowers\, birds\, or the work of inspiring female artists—fostering a sense of curiosity and peace that is often overlooked in our busy lives. \n\n\n\nEach month explores a new theme\, guiding participants on an artistic journey of discovery and creativity while embracing the principles of mindfulness. Through these changing themes\, participants are encouraged to embrace change\, let go of expectations\, and realign with what matters most. Like watercolors flowing on paper\, life unfolds naturally when we allow ourselves to simply be. \n\n\n\nObjective: \n\n\n\nThese sessions are designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment where participants can explore creativity as a pathway to mindfulness. Through art\, they will practice being present\, fostering a deeper connection with themselves and their surroundings. The workshops encourage self-expression\, cultivate a sense of calm\, and offer tools for integrating mindfulness into daily life. \n\n\n\nWhile the primary goal is to provide time and space for mindfulness through art\, there will also be an element of teaching and skill-building. Participants will have the opportunity to acquire and develop watercolor painting techniques by attending regular monthly workshops.  \n\n\n\nWhen and Where: \n\n\n\nSessions will take place once a month. Set in the stunning location of the Hayloft at Horsenden Farm\, Horsenden Lane North\, Perivale\, UB6 7PQ \n\n\n\nBooking: \n\n\n\nSecure your place by booking through eventbrite via link below:https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/mindfulness-through-art-at-horsenden-farm-tickets-1144213867479?aff=oddtdtcreator \n\n\n\nThough these workshops are aimed at adults\, interested older children (aged 12+) can also attend when accompanied with a participating adult.  \n\n\n\nCancellations made 7 days or more in advance of the workshop date will receive a 100% refund. Cancellations made 48hrs in advance will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made thereafter will not receive a refund. \n\n\n\nFor any booking queries please email IDartschool@gmail.com \n\n\n\nA bit about the Artist: \n\n\n\nIsher Dhiman is a London-based mixed media artist\, arts facilitator\, and Associate Lecturer at the London College of Fashion with two decades of experience. Known for her expertise in wet media\, particularly watercolors and inks\, her work is deeply inspired by the human form\, lived experiences\, and emotional expression. Her ever-evolving artistic journey reflects a passion for experimentation and a profound appreciation for the fluidity and magic of watercolors. \n\n\n\nIsher has exhibited her work in London and the USA and has collaborated with prestigious institutions such as the Royal Academy of Arts\, the Wellcome Collection\, and Kew Gardens to lead workshops that blend creativity and mindfulness. As a tutor at @2bornot2bcollective—a POC-run art collective uplifting POC and visibly marginalized bodies in the arts—she actively fosters inclusivity and empowerment in creative spaces. \n\n\n\nThrough her art and community engagement projects\, Isher aims to inspire positive social change by promoting creativity as a tool for mindfulness\, education\, connection\, and personal growth. Based in London\, she conducts workshops that advocate for the transformative power of artistic expression\, encouraging participants to explore art as a means of self-discovery and celebration. \n\n\n\n@Isherdhiman @IDartschool \n\n\n\nwww.isherdhiman.com

SUMMARY:Christmas card workshop - Relief printing using Tetra Pak
DESCRIPTION:A great introduction to the art of relief printing by reuse & recycling. This workshop shows you how to turn your empty tetra pak juice and milk cartons into a bespoke printing medium that can be used to create your own festive cards\, prints and much more. \n\n\n\nThis experimental\, tactile printing method uses cut out shapes and patterns to create a design that is then inked & transferred onto another surface. This results in expressive\, textural illustrations that can be repeated over and over. \n\n\n\nYou will also learn how to apply colour through a technique called Chine Colle\, which uses patches of fine coloured paper sandwiched within the print. \n\n\n\nIn this 2.5 hour workshop Milly will talk you through the tips and techniques to: \n\n\n\n\nDesign your illustrations\n\n\n\nCreate your printing plate\n\n\n\nPrepare the ink\n\n\n\nApply to the print\n\n\n\nAdding areas of colour\n\n\n\n\nWe will be working with a choice of example illustrations – to get you started and to use on the day – so no upfront creativity required! You will also be given other sample illustrations to take away\, plus a set of step-by-step instructions for future use. You don’t need to have print experience or be a creative – this is aimed at all levels. \n\n\n\nAll materials will be supplied for this session to enable you to leave with at least a few finished cards\, but this workshop has been created with home printing in mind so you can carry on making as many as you need. \n\n\n\nPurposely designed with only minimal outlay on a couple of bought tools\, the rest using things you will likely have already – including those used tetra pak cartons! \n\n\n\nThis is a fun\, hands-on workshop – working with water-based ink – so please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or bring an apron. \n\n\n\nThese workshops are aimed at adults\, but suitable for 12+ if accompanied by an adult. \n\n\n\nLight refreshments will be provided. \n\n\n\nThis workshop will be repeated in the afternoon 2:30pm – 5:00pm – booking for the afternoon session can be found here. \n\n\n\nAll proceeds from this workshop go to support the work of the Friends of Horsenden charity.

SUMMARY:Winter concert - John Kirkpatrick: Carolling & Crumpets
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that for this year’s winter concert we will be joined by English folk aficionado\, John Kirkpatrick. Join us in the hayloft for a cosy evening of music and merriment to welcome in the festive season. \n\n\n\nCarolling & Crumpets: Taking its title from John’s unforgettable song telling the Nativity story from the point of view of the animals in the stable\, this show is a heart-warming look at the timeless rituals found in the folklore and folk music of England at Midwinter. John peels away the commercial gloss of modern Christmas to reveal the powerful pagan urges that race through us all at this time of year\, and the life and death struggle that is symbolised in so many traditional songs and customs. \n\n\n\nAnd if that all sounds just a little too intense\, then rest assured that the mysterious and murky goings-on in these magical songs of wassailing\, wren-hunting\, stirring the fire\, and incessant feasting\, all come dressed up in a glittering finery of toe-tapping tunes and cracking choruses. Add to the mixture a light-hearted smattering of hilarious original songs\, a sprinkling of carols both familiar and unfamiliar\, all stirred up withJohn’s usual panache and energy\, and supported by his scintillating skill on a variety of squeeze-boxes\, and you have an unbeatable recipe for having a rattling good sing\, guaranteed to keep the spirits cheery and the cold at bay. \n\n\n\nDoors open at 6:30pm\, with refreshments available from the Friends of Horsenden\, including hot drinks and home made cake. Perivale Brewery will be also be open. \n\n\n\nThe concert will start at 7pm\, with an interval\, and then a second set. The evening will be finished by 9pm. \n\n\n\nAll profit from the show will go towards supporting the farm and charity Friends of Horsenden. Reduced rate tickets are available\, please email friends@horsenden.org to arrange (no questions asked\, we’d like this to be accessible to people regardless of their circumstances). \n\n\n\nPlease note the Hayloft is accessed via a spiral staircase. Parking on site will be available.
