SUMMARY:Relief printing workshop using Tetra Pak
DESCRIPTION:A great introduction to the art of relief printing by reuse & recycling. This workshop shows you how to turn your empty tetra pak juice and milk cartons into a bespoke printing medium that can be used to create your own prints\, cards\, fabrics and much more. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis experimental\, tactile printing method uses shapes and patterns to create a surface design on the carton that is then inked & transferred onto another surface. This results in expressive\, textural illustrations that can be repeated over and over. \n\n\n\nIn this 2.5 hour workshop Milly will talk you through the tips and techniques to: \n\n\n\n\nDesign your illustrations\n\n\n\nCreate your printing plate\n\n\n\nPrepare the ink\n\n\n\nApply to the print\n\n\n\n\nWe will be working with an example illustration – to get you started and to use on the day – so no upfront creativity required! You will also be given other sample illustrations to take away\, plus a set of step-by-step instructions for future use. You don’t need to have print experience or be a creative – this is aimed at all levels. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll materials will be supplied for this session to enable you to leave with at least one finished print\, but this workshop has been created with home printing in mind. It has been designed to help you continue exploring this technique further\, with only minimal outlay on a couple of bought tools\, the rest using things you will likely have already – including those used tetra pak cartons! \n\n\n\nThis is a fun\, hands-on workshop – working with water-based ink – so please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or bring an apron. \n\n\n\nThese workshops are aimed at adults\, but suitable for 12+ if accompanied by an adult. \n\n\n\nLight refreshments will be provided. \n\n\n\nThis workshop will be repeated in the afternoon 2.30pm – 5.00pm – booking for the afternoon session can be found here. \n\n\n\nAll proceeds from this workshop go to support the work of the Friends of Horsenden charity.

Following lots of self-practice\, attending community carving events and learning opportunities\, Ali was lucky enough to spend some time with pole lathe bowl turners Sharif Adams and Adrian Lloyd\, both well-respected amongst the craft community.Ever since\, Ali has been turning and carving non-stop\, producing hundreds of bowls\, end-grain cups\, and more specialist items including locking lidded boxes\, nested bowls\, as well as his beautiful plates. \n\n\n\nOver the last 5 years\, Ali has been forging his own turning tools\, teaching courses in all things greenwood\, and undertaking demonstrations to communicate the craft to the public at events nationwide and at his own workshop in Stevenage. \n\n\n\n\n\nAccessibility\, details\, Ts and Cs\nThe woodland workshop is accessed via an uneven woodchipped path. Parking and toilets are available on the farm site\, a few minutes walk from the woodland workshop. \n\n\n\nThe woodland workshop is open-sided but covered by a roof so courses will go ahead in the event of rain.
