SUMMARY:Mindfulness Through Art
DESCRIPTION:Using painting as a pathway to mindfulness\, these monthly art workshops explore different themes and techniques to inspire creativity and presence. \n\n\n\nCreating art offers a pathway to a meditative state\, allowing us to experience the profound healing and restorative benefits it provides. Whether you’re an experienced artist or haven’t picked up a paintbrush in years\, everyone is welcome to join this calming and relaxing watercolour art workshop. Here\, the focus is on using art as a tool for self-connection\, embracing the flow of creativity\, and cultivating awareness in the present moment. \n\n\n\nThese workshops invite participants to pause\, observe\, and draw creative inspiration from the world around them—whether through the study of nature\, flowers\, birds\, or the work of inspiring female artists—fostering a sense of curiosity and peace that is often overlooked in our busy lives. \n\n\n\nEach month explores a new theme\, guiding participants on an artistic journey of discovery and creativity while embracing the principles of mindfulness. Through these changing themes\, participants are encouraged to embrace change\, let go of expectations\, and realign with what matters most. Like watercolors flowing on paper\, life unfolds naturally when we allow ourselves to simply be. \n\n\n\nObjective: \n\n\n\nThese sessions are designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment where participants can explore creativity as a pathway to mindfulness. Through art\, they will practice being present\, fostering a deeper connection with themselves and their surroundings. The workshops encourage self-expression\, cultivate a sense of calm\, and offer tools for integrating mindfulness into daily life. \n\n\n\nWhile the primary goal is to provide time and space for mindfulness through art\, there will also be an element of teaching and skill-building. Participants will have the opportunity to acquire and develop watercolor painting techniques by attending regular monthly workshops.  \n\n\n\nWhen and Where: \n\n\n\nSessions will take place once a month. Set in the stunning location of the Hayloft at Horsenden Farm\, Horsenden Lane North\, Perivale\, UB6 7PQ \n\n\n\nBooking: \n\n\n\nSecure your place by booking through eventbrite via link below:https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/mindfulness-through-art-at-horsenden-farm-tickets-1144213867479?aff=oddtdtcreator \n\n\n\nThough these workshops are aimed at adults\, interested older children (aged 12+) can also attend when accompanied with a participating adult.  \n\n\n\nCancellations made 7 days or more in advance of the workshop date will receive a 100% refund. Cancellations made 48hrs in advance will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made thereafter will not receive a refund. \n\n\n\nFor any booking queries please email IDartschool@gmail.com \n\n\n\nA bit about the Artist: \n\n\n\nIsher Dhiman is a London-based mixed media artist\, arts facilitator\, and Associate Lecturer at the London College of Fashion with two decades of experience. Known for her expertise in wet media\, particularly watercolors and inks\, her work is deeply inspired by the human form\, lived experiences\, and emotional expression. Her ever-evolving artistic journey reflects a passion for experimentation and a profound appreciation for the fluidity and magic of watercolors. \n\n\n\nIsher has exhibited her work in London and the USA and has collaborated with prestigious institutions such as the Royal Academy of Arts\, the Wellcome Collection\, and Kew Gardens to lead workshops that blend creativity and mindfulness. As a tutor at @2bornot2bcollective—a POC-run art collective uplifting POC and visibly marginalized bodies in the arts—she actively fosters inclusivity and empowerment in creative spaces. \n\n\n\nThrough her art and community engagement projects\, Isher aims to inspire positive social change by promoting creativity as a tool for mindfulness\, education\, connection\, and personal growth. Based in London\, she conducts workshops that advocate for the transformative power of artistic expression\, encouraging participants to explore art as a means of self-discovery and celebration. \n\n\n\n@Isherdhiman @IDartschool \n\n\n\nwww.isherdhiman.com

SUMMARY:Beginners Frame Basket Weaving
DESCRIPTION:Join basket maker\, Ellie Morgan\, to make a frame basket using traditional materials and techniques in our woodland workshop at Horsenden Farm.         \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn this course\, you will make your own traditional frame basket with Somerset-grown willow using time-honoured techniques. This ancient style of basket is a joy to make and is the perfect way to begin your basketry journey. \n\n\n\nThe course starts at 9:45am and will aim to finish around 4:30pm – enough time to develop and practise new skills. The focus of the workshop is on process and safe technique\, and by the end of the day you’ll have woven a unique basket to take home. \n\n\n\nThroughout the day\, tea\, coffee\, and biscuits will be provided. For lunch\, attendees are welcome to bring their own meal or purchase something delicious from our very own on-site bakery\, The Horsenden Loaf. \n\n\n\nWhat You Will Learn\n\n\n\nThe course will focus on the following areas: \n\n\n\n\nWillow varieties and how to prepare them\n\n\n\nHow to use the tools safely and effectively\n\n\n\nHow to create the frame for your basket\n\n\n\nAdding ribs to create strength and structure \n\n\n\nWeaving techniques and how to finish your basket to make sure it looks good and is strong and useful\n\n\n\n\nPlease note. No previous experience is required as this course is designed for beginners\, but you do need to be 18 or over to take part\, be mobile\, and as basketmaking can be hard on the hands if you have a loss of strength this might not be the craft for you. \n\n\n\nAbout the Course Leader\, Ellie\n\n\n\nEllie is a multi-talented maker – a carver\, a knitter of yarn\, and a dedicated weaver of baskets. While she studied fine art many years ago\, she has always been drawn to using textiles and natural materials to create functional objects. Following a career change\, Ellie is now a highly respected full-time basket maker and greenwood carver. You might have seen her work on stage or screen\, including Netflix’s The Witcher and Lord of the Rings. \n\n\n\nDeeply connected to her materials\, if Ellie hasn’t made it\, she has likely grown it on her allotment in South West London; this includes some home grown basketry willow. Ellie is a Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers as well as being their Trade Advisor\,  a member of the Basketry Association and the Association of Pole Lathe Turners and Green Woodworkers. She has a relaxed\, knowledgeable teaching style and loves sharing her skills at markets\, fairs\, and workshops. Her students consistently leave her sessions happy with both their new skills and their finished creations. \n\n\n\nAbout the venue\n\n\n\nAll our greenwood workshops take place at our woodland workshop. This is a covered wooden framed outdoor venue in a private area at Horsenden Farm\, with more than enough room to keep everyone covered. This is a short walk from the main entrance\, toilets and car park. \n\n\n\nPlease note the paths to the workshop and the workshop floor are uneven and woodchipped so unfortunately the space is not currently suitable for people with limited mobility. \n\n\n\nIf you have any questions\, drop us a line at friends@horsenden.org \n\n\n\nCancellation policy\nCancellation by You \n\n\n\nTo request a cancellation\, you must notify us in writing via email at friends@horsenden.org. The refund amount is determined by the date your cancellation notice is received. \n\n\n\n\nFull Refund: Cancellations received more than 3 weeks (21 days) before the scheduled course start date will receive a 100% refund (minus payment processing fees)\n\n\n\nPartial Refund: Cancellations received between 2 and 3 weeks (14-21 days) before the scheduled course start date will receive a 50% refund.\n\n\n\nNo Refund: Cancellations received less than 2 weeks (fewer than 14 days) before the scheduled course start date are not eligible for a refund. This is because at this late stage it is very difficult to fill the vacant spot\, and we have already committed costs to our tutors.\n\n\n\n\nAttendee Substitutions \n\n\n\nIf you are unable to attend the course\, you are welcome to find a substitute to take your place at any time before the course begins. \n\n\n\nTo do this\, please inform us of the new attendee’s name and contact details. Once the substitute attendee has completed their booking and payment\, we will process a 100% refund of your original course fee. \n\n\n\nCancellation by Us \n\n\n\nIn the unlikely event that we need to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances\, we will provide you with as much notice as possible. You will be offered the choice of either: \n\n\n\n\nA full refund of your course fee\n\n\n\nA transfer to an alternative course date\, subject to availability\n\n\n\n\nThank you for your understanding and for supporting our craftspeople.
